The 3rd pic is how your reins should always be. They're perfect...;D

You honestly don't look too bad. Just like everybody's been saying, pick your hands up a bit & turn them upwards a bit. Thumbnails towards the clouds! (Gloves would also make you look more polished). Also, you mentioned you know your legs aren't very good; the position is pretty good, but your foot is too far in the stirrup & your toes are pointing down (eek!). Shortening your stirrups a hole or two would fix that easily, as would trying to bring your toes up or pulling your heels down (same thing, I know, but I was never able to understand it until my trainer told me to pull my toes up (!)) I would also try to straighten your back a little bit, not quite so arched (makes ya look like a turtle!) and SMILE!!! YOU LOOK LIKE YOU'RE ENTERING THE EXECUTION CHAMBER!!! Good luck, your horsey is adorable!

Not at the canter jay jay...you want to have your inside rein a tad tighter than your outside. maybe in western..... You dont get inside bend then

I have to agree with the smile! Be proud of what you got! (and what you got is a very cute mare but then I AM partial to paints!) Other than that, you look pretty good, but I am definitely not an expert in the English realm at all.. western is much more my thing. As for the showmanship "duck and run", you don't want to squinch down but at the same time, you don't want to BOUND across the arena. Personally, I have to be very careful because I have.. well, a rather large chest, no matter how much I bind it up for showing and it can be VERY distracting and unprofessional looking if you're flopping all over the place. I also have trouble jogging across the sand because my ankles are very weak. I've perfected my own compact, unsloppy looking jog across the ring. Don't bound, lope, frolic or galavant across the arena -- but do try to jog with a lot less UP AND DOWN motion than you would normally jog and much more FORWARD motion.
