I know that this topic seems like a dumb one to ask on a horse forum, but its not that simple of a subject... So, what are your views on it? PLEASE keep it intelligent and dont go on any emotionally driven rants... have reasons to back up your views... btw, Im doin a paper on it soon, so if your Ok with it, I may use some of your responses in it... And I will share my views after I get a good amount of responses Thnx Chris

Well, I used to think it was crazy, discusting, whatever. But as I grew older I started to understand. In India, cows are considered holy. We eat them. People overseas eat horses- they're not holy here. (except for maybe to the horse people) People eat cats, dogs, guinea pig...etc. We may think its gross but its all about the culture. I don't like it, but some horses may be better off dead. (abused, dying, etc.) I dont like the way FEMA shows them as being killed- but from what I'm told thats not how it USUALLY happens. I am 100% against going out and rounding up mustangs to kill, and I would die if I found out Odie went to slaughter...but there was a wonderful horse at our barn once named Beanie, and she turned on some little kid and tried to kill her. After that she was psycho. (this was after she left the barn) RUmor is is that she went to slaughter. I dont know if I'm okay with that or not. I havent decidd.
I think that was an emotional rant. Sorry.

s'alright... atleast you had some reasons, and only a lil emotion... most girls go off on a psychotic pointless rant if the words horse and slaughter are even mentioned in the same sentence... thnx and its PETA, not FEMA...

I guess that's a quite common topic though. I have different points of view of it. In someways I hate it but in someways I don't exactly care. I love horses, don't get me wrong but I mean if they are like already dead and have no owner maybe the slaughter home is the best for them. I don't like it if there is no point or reason for doing it just for money or fun but maybe sometimes it could be alright, I don't know. I understand that maybe if a horse goes psycho like Gaby said with Beanie but I don't know how to think about that really.
Eeeek that was probably really annoying and ranty, sorry!

Personally, I'm against it.. (woah, bet no one suspected the crazy vegetarian to say something like that .. *gasp*) lol.. Yeah, I think that it's wrong, for the obvious reasons...I Just don't feel that innocent animals should be slaughtered under any circumstance. (hence the reason I'm a vegetarian) However, I understand that not EVERYONE is going to believe what I feel, and that's okay. I realize that it's gunna happen no matter what, and I understand WHY they do it.. It's the whole chain also.. If they stopped slaughter, then the slaughter people would not be making money.. then they would begin to go bankrupt & wouldn't be able to buy the things they typically buy on a day to day basis.. Like, say the slaughter guy goes to the deli every day and spend 10 dollars on lunch.. Okay, well then the slaughter house is shut down & they don't have the money to buy lunch there anymore.. That's 2,000 dollars a year that the deli is not recieving, and then they have to order less meat from the boars head guy.. Now the boars head guy is getting paid less by the Boars Head company and the company is making less profit.. The "equilibrium" is disturbed, the small business is screwed.. and yeah... See, while I disagree with slaughter.. I see how stopping it would screw a lot of people over and such, therefore causing a chain reaction of events.. and bleh.. This sounds like one giant rant =P 'tis all good.. Basically though, I hate slaughter and I hate that animals have to be killed.. but I also know that it's gunna happen no matter what

i am against it. i believe crazy horses should be humanly ethunized, as well as old, starving, and nearly dead horses, and wild horses should either be adopted out, placed in foster homes, or put on those resurvation things, i cant think of the name. i do not like it at all.
